Travel this winter

So I have been stuck in Leeds Bradford International and London Gatwick airports for a total number of 18 hours. Which is nothing in comparison to thousands of other passengers struggling to get home or on holiday for Christmas.

I can't think of a worse time for so many flights to be cancelled and delayed.

Imagine for a moment having to sleep in a crowded, hot, loud airport. Often on top of your suitcase in order to prevent it being stolen and waking up in the panic that you might have missed your flight only to see CANCELLED flash up on the Departures board.

The gut wrenching feeling of the loss of hope. The knowledge that you are now going to have to attempt to find another way home.

In my case I had to return home in Leeds and come back in the morning to catch the 7am to Gatwick. Being in the airport at 5am is very odd! Nothing is open but employees continue about their days work as normal.

When I was stuck I found myself wishing that I was just at work, that my lunch break would come soon and that I can leave a 5!

Anyway I do think that some of the information in the article on the front of the Times this morning was true. It did make the arrival all the more wonderful.
